The training is intended for course developers and instructors who prepare and deliver training in the Moodle e-learning environment. As part of the training, you will be able to learn how to prepare learning materials and learning activities and how to integrate them into the Moodle e-learning environment.

Course target

Improve the necessary knowledge and skills to be able to independently develop and teach courses in the Moodle e-learning system.

Course developers and instructors who prepare course materials and provide the learning process in the Moodle e-learning environment.

At course completion you will be able to
  • Log in and navigate the Moodle environment;
  • Add and use course learning resources (documents, text, audio, video materials);
  • Use the forum and chat to provide learning activities;
  • Create tasks, databases and survey learning activities;
  • Create and manage tests;
  • Register and manage study participants;
  • Manage course settings.
Prerequisites

Good computer skills with office software and Internet browsers required.

Training materials

BDA developed a textbook in Latvian with theory and practical tasks.

Basic operations in the Moodle e-learning environment

  • Connecting to the system;
  • Navigation options in the Moodle system;
  • Distinguishing course elements and formats;
  • Course layout and types of formats;
  • Differentiating the working environment of students and teachers;
  • Use of the help system;
  • Use of educational materials;
  • Performance of learning activities.

Adding and managing learning content and resources

  • Adding text and web pages, display settings;
  • Linking to files and websites;
  • Uploading and managing course files;
  • Preparation of materials in various formats (.DOC, .XLS, .PPT, .PDF, audio, video, images) for publication;
  • Good practices in content management.

Use of learning activities

  • Use of forums and chat for communication and learning activities;
  • Adding and managing task activities;
  • Adding and managing vocabulary activities;
  • Adding and managing database activities;
  • Using surveys and polls to provide feedback;
  • Good practices in the use of learning activities.

Development of tests

  • Knowledge assessment principles in Moodle;
  • Creation of a test system (creation and maintenance of question categories and questions);
  • Creating, using and administering tests;
  • Test question development tools;
  • Import and export of test questions;
  • Good practices for effective use of tests.

Course management

  • Creation of a rating system, posting and management of ratings;
  • Course settings management;
